Six months ago today, the then taoiseach Leo Varadkar announced that “schools, colleges, and childcare facilities will close from tomorrow. Where possible, teaching will be done online or remotely.” The schools and childcare facilities are now open again…

The pandemic is a trainer and amongst the things it has been instructing us about is education itself. Six months ago this day, the then taoiseach Leo Varadkar launched that “schools, schools, and childcare facilities will shut from the next day. Where conceivable, instructing will likely be performed online or remotely.” 

The schools and childcare facilities are now delivery again and, after this week’s Leaving Certificate results, the schools are busily allocating places earlier than resuming later this month.
